Prayer is a strong wall and fortress of the church.

— Martin Luther

Prayer, Spirituality & Meditation Ministry Team

“Prayer in itself properly is nothing else than a devout intention directed toward God to receive good.”

The Cloud of Unknowing
Chapter 39, Verse 3

Central Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation of the Minneapolis Synod, is a Servant Cathedral Church, called to glorify God and serve others as a witness to God's presence in the world. In the service of Central's vision, the Prayer, Spirituality and Meditation Ministry Team's mission is to foster, support and explore prayer in all of its forms in the hearts and lives of the congregation.

Is there, or can there be, more to a life of prayer than the forms of prayer for self and others that most of us learned early in our spiritual journey? As you discern and discover the meaning, role and extent of prayer in your own life, we hope these pages provide some of the information you need to answer this question for yourself.
