Holy Trinity - Living in the community of the Trinity
"Our Triangular God"
Central Lutheran Church is a large and diverse body of people who are united by our faith in Jesus Christ. We work together to provide meaningful worship experiences, educational opportunities for all ages, and both local and global expressions of our faith.
The Congregation Council of Central Lutheran Church is made up of 11 elected members and its Senior Pastor. Officers and “at-large” Council members are elected at the June Annual Meeting and are given the responsibility for the oversight and governing of the life of our church. All serve for two-year terms except the president who serves one year as president-elect, one year as president and one year as past president.

Joyce Anderson, and her husband Chuck, became members of Central Lutheran Church in 1998. They felt at home immediately and were attracted to the wonderful music, the excellent preaching, the diversity, and the many opportunities for service. Joyce states, "God has blessed me with wonderful friends and opportunities to serve Him that have enriched my life." She has served on the Evangelism Committee, New Member Ministry Team, Nominating Committee and Task Force D (Chair). In addition to the Council, she currently serves as Personnel Committee Chair, Communion Worship Minister, Lector, Pray-er, Member of the CLCW Investment Club and on the Central Lutheran Church Foundation Board. She is a proud sponsor of a student at the MaaSae Girls Lutheran Secondary School in Monduli, Tanzania, Africa and participates in a group of other student sponsors at Central.
Richard is a longtime member of Central. He would like to see more people from the downtown area come to worship. He has recently retired from his law practice and has been enjoying his children and grandchildren with his wife, Linda.
Leon and his wife Deanne have been members of Central for over 6 years. His involvement at Central includes Communion Deacon, Lector, Greeter, and Personnel Committee. He has vast experience serving on church councils and as treasurer in the following congregations: American Lutheran Church in Milbank, South Dakota; St. John’s Lutheran Church in LeMars, Iowa; and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Professionally, Leon has successfully managed sizable budgets for information technology organizations and is currently employed with Medtronics.
Kathryn Holum is a longtime member of Central and says she is honored to serve as secretary of the Congregation Council. She and husband Lance operate a catering company and have two young daughters, a key motivation for her as a member of Central's team of Sunday School teachers. Also involved in communion ministry, Kathryn definitely has a full plate on Sunday mornings.
John attended Central during his college days at the University of Minnesota and met his wife Judy at Central. After raising their family in suburban Lutheran churches, they joined Central in 1998. He served on the Board of Trustees during the 1990's, has been an active member of Central's music program for many years, and participates in prayers and as a lector at worship. John would like to see the Central membership stabilize and begin to grow again as the vision and mission statements are implemented.
As a longtime member of Central, Jeff sees Central's mission as service to the community. He served as chair of the recent Senior Pastor Call Committee and has been active in communion ministry. He is a retired school administrator, now enjoying the time he spends with his toddler grandson.
A lifetime member of Central,
Simon Husbands, and his wife Janet, have been members of Central since 1998. They participate, with their young sons Freddy and Henry, as Greeters and Communion Processors. Simon, who moved here from his native England, works as a piano technician, web design business owner, and composer. He has formerly worked for Her Majesty's Government and Schmitt Music Company.
David would like to see Central’s vision statement come alive. One way is to attract the 32,000 persons who live downtown. He retired from being a chancellor of the University of Minnesota-Morris. He has led many hiking adventures locally and globally.
Christopher Lyle's first experience at Central was memorable: on that occasion, he met Kari, who became his wife! They are parents of daughter Marit, born in 2005. Chris is employed with a medical firm and is looking forward to service on the Congregation Council.
Susan Troselius has been at Central Lutheran Church since 1981, when she joined the choir as soprano section leader. She became a member in 1987. Susan directed the Sunday School worship program for several years. She is a member of Central's Personnel Committee, participated in a task force as part of Central’s Healthy Congregation process, and served on the ASsociate Pastor Call Committee. Susan has been a human resource professional at Cargill for 26 years. She has also past volunteer experience, through the Management Assistant Project (MAP), in several organizations such as the Lupus Foundation and ARC and is a past officer of the Buyers’ Health Care Action Group, a local employer health care coalition. She continues to pursue a semi-professional singing career.
